Wekiva Springs (1 hr 15 min)

Wekiva Springs is downstream from Rock Springs. A large grassy hill provides plenty of sun for sunbathers who then enjoy a refreshing swim in the gigantic spring pool. A huge rock crack boils water out at a massive rate. It’s possible to swim down and peek into some going cave passage.

Ocala Nat’l Forest Springs- Ocala (1 hr)

Alexander Springs- A nice deep spring head with plenty of room for swimmers. Rent canoes and kayaks for short runs downstream.

Juniper Springs – Beautiful spring head swimming area with kid friendly pool. Lots of history including an old mill and trail back to Fern Hammock Springs, an undeveloped spring. Very pretty!

Silver Glen – Nice size swimming area on the edge of Lake George. Huge striped bass are often seen in the spring head. Nice underwater cave entrance too.

Salt Springs- A smaller spring. An underwater cave with Indian artifacts was recently discovered in Salt Springs.

Area Springs

Rainbow River- Dunnellon (45 min)

Grab a tube and jump in! Grab your mask and your tube and head to the KP Hole. Jump in and float down to the bridge at Hwy 484 about 4 hours downstream. The rainbow is a large river and is crystal clear spring water, NO Gators!

Rainbow Springs- Dunnellon (45 min)

A pretty park and the headwaters of the Rainbow River. The swimming area is a bit deep, but absolutely beautiful blue water. Don’t forget to see the waterfall!

Crystal River- Crystal River (1 hr)

Famous for swimming with Manatees. Here you can rent boats, find guided tours, or byob. Find a manatee and go swimming. Manatees far more common in winter.

Rock Springs and Wekiva – Apopka (1 hr 15 min)

Rock Springs is probably the prettiest cave entrance in Florida, and one of the best in the US. The cave isn’t open to caving but the river is well worth the visit. Hop in at the cliff face and cruise through some rapids into the pristine white water of Rock Springs Run. A 20 minute ride in your tube brings you into the swimming area. Grab your tube and repeat as often as you want. Arrive early on the weekend as the park is limited to visitor numbers.
