FIELD ACTIVITY PROGRAM |

One of the most unique aspects of the GCA educational program is the field activity program. These weekly field experiences enhance the instructional program while providing safe, supervised physical activities.

The purpose of the field activity program is to provide safe, organized, interactive, experiential learning opportunities that: instill self confidence; foster positive team interaction; encourage responsible behavior; offer physical challenges; and provide support activities for the core academic program. Field experiences may consist of combinations of events on any given program day. The lists below are meant to be a representative sample of the age-appropriate activities GCA students can look forward to. This list is by no means comprehensive.
Skill and Confidence Building Activities: Vertical Ventures (Climbing); Low Ropes Course Activities; USF High Ropes Course; Kayaking; Archery; Kendo; Caving; Snorkeling; Hiking; Team Games (Softball, Ultimate Frisbee, Capture the Flag, Flag Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Golf; Softball); Fishing; SAMURAI; YMCA Swimming/Snorkeling Skills; First Aid/CPR Certification; Boating Certification; Rock Climbing and Bouldering; etc.
Service Activities: Environmental Land Maintenance Support for the Elderly Animal Shelter (Humane Society of Hernando County)
